Subject Re: [firebird-support] Best Server hardware to Firebird
Author Dalton Calford
Hi Rodrigo;

Is the XP box being used for any other functions? ie, is it also a
workstation or is it a dedicated server?

What type of hard disk /hard disk controller do you use?

What is your setting for virtual memory?

What is your setting for Windows memory cache?

How much RAM do you have?

What page size are you using for your database?

What filing system are you using on your drive?

What block size are you using on your filing system?

What is your buffers setting?

What type of processor/number of processors do you have?

You would be surprised how much of a performance improvement you can
have with just a few changes to the settings of your software when you
know exactly the hardware specifications.

best regards

Dalton
