Hmm, difficult case. I think if it solves your problem it SHOULD
make you happy :-)

Or do you have an enormous lot of fields?

Myself I only use * when I write apps that can connect to any
database. Specifying fieldnames gives you much more finetuning
control, and more insight in what you are actually doing.
