I've been using the DevExpress component (or, rather its predecessor, RSD's TDBExplorer) with TIBO* and it's OK with about 1000 items in the root dataset. I doubt it would work well with a 40,000 item dataset though. It's pretty slow even with about 1200 items and there is a LOT of stack activity at that level of population.
