Permit me some rambling ...
1.
One method of promoting IBO could be to spend some time at the IB
newsgroups and provide some help (I know some of you are already doing
this). Having a signature line mentioning IBO (and possibly FireBird as
well?) couldn't do much harm. Maybe everyone could be using the same line,
thus showing that there is a community with better tools.
2.
I had some problem with the ordering technicalities when trying to purchase
the GSG (Getting Started Guide). We'll try again.

Do you need a publisher? Could you sell _The Book_ the same way as the GSG?
4.
Slightly OffTopic:
Are there still a great number of places where they are using desktop
databases _and_ do not have a C/S database inhouse? It someimes seems as
if 'everyone' have a C/S database (mostly Sybase, Oracle or MS SQL server)
and they might not be terribly interested in introducing yet another beast.
I do hope there is a large window of opportunities for FireBird/Interbase
(and IBO).
Is anyone is regularly following the NGs on Paradox and Access? Sometimes
it is appropriate to mention a C/S alternative (f.ex. when someone has
problems with a (too) large desktop database).
5.

I certainly did not intend to say that you had crossed a line (when arguing
against IBX). I just sensed - wrongly? - some frustration/aggressiveness
in your tone.
Maybe a revision of the whitepaper could be a good thing after IBO/4 has
stabilized.

Aage J.
