Thanks for the tip

No it wont work for me. the terminal window log is as follows

rsp@DELL-1710:~$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure firebird2.1-super
[sudo] password for rsp:
/usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure: firebird2.1-super is broken or not fully installed
rsp@DELL-1710:~$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure firebird2.1-super
/usr/sbin/dpkg-reconfigure: firebird2.1-super is broken or not fully installed
rsp@DELL-1710:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/firebird restart
Stopping Firebird server: Starting Firebird server: /opt/firebird/bin/fbmgr.bin: error while loading shared libraries: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Any other solution ?

I have not compile from sources till date. So just hesitant to
do that. I have used only binary packages since it became a opensource and On windows Interbase which was coming along with delphi.

Thanks and best regards.
