Hi,
can't help you with 1.5 but I have managed to install 2.0.3 and 2.1 on the same machine as services. Main docs are in doc/README_installation.txt file, it's very well written, you should be able to figure it out.
In firebird.conf I've set up RemoteServicePort and RootDirectory.

Everything works except I have some problems with displaying messages, but I haven't found a cause for it yet. I try to err too much lately :)
