Subject SuperServer on Gentoo doesn't start any more
Author skoczian
Hello,

after some months of not using firebird at all I tried to start the
SuperServer and got this in the log file:

Elend (Client) Tue Jan 15 20:08:49 2008
/usr/share/firebird/../../../usr/bin/fbguard: guardian
starting
../../../usr/bin/fbserver

Elend (Server) Tue Jan 15 20:08:50 2008

Database: /usr/share/firebird/../../../etc/firebird/security2.fdb
Your user name and password are not defined. Ask your
database administrator to set up a Firebird login.

Using firebird-2.0.3.12981.0-r2 on gentoo. I used the command

Elend ~ # /etc/init.d/firebird start

(as root, of course), because I don't need the server to run all the
time. What user name and password does the server miss? I suspect
that it's my fault: some months ago I had problems I don't remember
any more and I gave a password to the firebird user. Can that be the
reason, and if yes, how can I fix it? Delete the firebird user and
create it manually? Or reinstall firebird?

Thank you,
Herta
