The Microsoft document referenced by firebird.conf is about a bug in
Windows 2000. It has been patched since then by W2K SP3.

by the remote host" problem

Dimitry,
I've been all over the release notes and the .conf file. They say to
lock up the DummyPacketInterval setting and throw away the key!

From FB v1.5.3 Release Notes:
"Warning
DO NOT USE THIS OPTION on a Win32 server running TCP/IP clients. It
causes a persistent increase in usage of kernel non-paged memory which
may hang or crash Windows on the client side as explained at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=296265."

From Firebird.conf:
"# DO NOT USE THIS OPTION. It may hang or crash Windows on the client
side as # explained here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=296265
# or may not prevent eventual inactive client disconnection for other
OS."
