I'd say Windows 98 does not support anything that is meant to run 24/7. :-)

Seriously, use something else.W98 will freeze run out of resources, need
to be rebooted, catch viri, etc.

Many open source apps are dropping support for W95/8. GTK does not
support any windows before 2000. OpenOffice.org 1.1 had a crash issue on
W98 and most developers were not able to reproduce it since they use XP.
And it is a fading platform.
