Perhaps your download client messed up the files. You could try download with
other client, or send a md5sum of a file, and we can compare it. Here, this may
help you:

$ md5sum FirebirdSS-1.5.2.4731-0.i686.tar.gz
8ffd92f935335e9f845bbd422b403481 *FirebirdSS-1.5.2.4731-0.i686.tar.gz
