Hello Paolo !

There are some other things that can slow down the connection....

Anti virus software, you should disable scan on gdb files, and maybe a dns
lookup problem (try put the server name and ip addres on "hosts" file
located on c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc).

Did you try to create an database with another extension like fdb ? If so
how are the results ??
