Subject Re: [ib-support] OT? - Interbase 6.01 on Linux (How do I do this?)
Author Lista de Discução Interbase
I've used Conectiva (Redhat based) versions 4.2, 5.1, 6.0 and now I am
using Redhat 7.2, I have no problems instaling Interbase 4.2 (in Conectiva
4.2) Interbase 6.0 in Conectiva 5.1 and 6.0, FireBird RC1 on Conectiva 6
and Redhat 7.2.

It's ok to me not just to setup Firebird, but Kylix 2 Open Edition,
Samba, and all other things in a Linux Box (Sendmail, pop server, MySQL,
etc, etc, etc.).

I only had problems instaling Oracle 8i, but it's not fault of Linux (I
have never used and of course installed Oracle before), I just don't know
how to setup Listeners and Databases correctly, but now it works fine.
Setup Interbase is a "peace of cake" [on Windows or Linux (rpm
versions)], MySQL is ease too, Sybase is ease too, SQL server on Windows
NT ease, but Oracle I have BAD times trying to install, but once running no
problems...

Sorry for this off-topic post, but I think this could clarify that linux
works well the problems is with my inexperience with Oracle, with Interbase
and now Firedbird no problems...
