Can you check whether adding the jaas.jar solves the problem? JDK 1.4.x and
higher include it in the rt.jar, but JDK 1.3.x needs it to be added to the
classpath explicitly (see the footnote on page 7 of the Release Notes).

If that solves the problem, would you be so kind to write a small how-to
that we can place on our Wiki?
