The german issue of Computerweek (Computerwoche)released an article
in
it's latest release(19.Jan.2001) about the security whole in IB.
Headline is "Borland stops long standing security whole in Interbase"
and in the tag line "Bug exists since 1992".
In the article there is a detailed description of what was going on,
including the "hot-tempered verbal deal out" (at least the best
translation I can do) and the mentioning of links where the patches
can be downloaded.
A good part of the article includes speculations mentioned in the
threads of the IB mailing lists, which now will be spread without
correction. While they will hurt Borland, they definitely will hurt
Interbase.
I guess I dont have to list the lessons to learn here?
Regards,
Benny
