Hmmm. I wonder what is different in my setup. I know I've seen this
issue before - in which case I've just dropped SessionProps onto the
app and set the defaults to false.

However just now I experimented
V4.2Fr Win2KPro SP2, Delphi5

and both IB_* and IBO* components seem consistent in this regard (they
are both showing the actual connection when selected).

My recommendation is to always use SessionProps (unless doing threaded
stuff with explicit session creation). That way you can control what
is happening in various situations.
