I have several suggestions. I hacked it around for some time last night local time before heading for bed; and will send it through to you privately this morning when I've added some initial alternative suggestions for doing this task.

Both. But the way your code is at present, you don't really have any very suitable code blocks to catch all of the expected exceptions at the right time, let alone the unexpected ones...

For others who might be a little bemused by exception handling in Delphi, I'm working on a Tech Info sheet on the subject, complete with a little sample project full of ghastly exceptions, for which the TI sheet will show you ways to handle them...
