As a factor of consideration, please remember in IBO I respect the
environment variables you have set on your development machine for the
default username and password. If ever you are making a design-time
connection and the username and password are blank IBO will plug these
values in from the environment and make the connection without you having to
type them in or store them in your application.
It is not annoying at all to type in an actual user password during a
run-time test. This is what your users must do anyway. Also, if they are
blank and you just hit enter it will again use your environment settings.
So, perhaps a lot of the bells and whistles are not necessary in light of
this arrangement.
