I rather like the '<<' and '>>' characters for macros, but then I
have not yet been involved in any HTML development. I've already been
using these in my IBO4 based applications, although it wont be too
difficult to change over if thats what you want to do.

I do prefer the double character to mixed character combinations. IMO
it stands out better when viewing inside other text. If you want to
go with '[[macro]]' thats fine with me.
