This is not an approach I would recommend, as the DLL may be
running in a different thread, and so should have it's own
connection and timers.

Since neither BDE or IBX actually use threads this is
probably why you have the problem only with IBO.

Have you actually tried with the connection in the DLL? Is
it any slower?
