It will be just fine for them to keep the app open round the clock - provided you (as programmer) ensure that they don't keep _transactions_ open all day (or even over lunch-hour). Once you have cut your teeth on just working the data and transaction stuff, there is some cool stuff built in to transaction management that will make getting the _users_ under control a breeze.
