Maybe a database corruption. Try backup and restore your database
The SQL command is running inside a Visual basic application and I have this
command working in 5 other
versions of my software (all apart from my NPoS is working)
So how can it work for the others but not this one app?

The first thing that I wonder is: why aren't you using parametrized queries?
That saves a lot of hassle like escaping and keeps things more readable.

In general it means that the parser ran out of input before it had a
complete parse, eg missing a quote or closing parenthesis does this.

At first glance there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with this.
