Having still got Builder based C++ programs running from the 1990's, most of my
new work is using PHP, and the majority is based on ADOdb database layer which
allows very easy cross connection with other databases. I've a number of systems
which still access old MySQL and other databases while doing all their new work
in Firebird. Although simply porting the data is the more common method of working.
