Hm, using only 3 gigs of 8 available sounds like it maybe can't use that
RAM?

Could it be the case that 32-bit-firebird isn't able to make use of the
8 gigs available with 32-bit-Windows-2003-Enterprise?

If yes, what to do?

Decrease DefaultDbCachePages ?
