Anyone have experience with FB on a high volume website?

I'm writing a web based data server that will serve up XML/JSON based OPF
services for Flex applications I'm starting to build. I'll be deploying
initially to Virtual Hosted Windows server initially for beta and later on
moving to dedicated hosted server.

Looks like high volume of fairly short, transactional operations will be the
norm, mostly CRUDing objects between the Delphi based server and Adobe Flex
applications.

I'd very much like to stay with Firebird as opposed to other RDBMS available if
I can.

Advise, suggestions, gotchas, etc are much appreciated.
