Subject Re: [firebird-support] Delphi Applications with Firebird
Author Jean Clemens
Hi,

I don't know if you are right. I have written applications using
Firebird as Database, Paradox and Oracle.
I have used Firebird also with PHP.
I'm using Delphi since it's very first version D1 , even during Dos
times with Turbo Pascal (sigh ..)

I have already and still using a programming language not very well
known, 4th Dimension (Cross development on Windows and MacOSX)
Since years, it was said that this language will disappear, but it's
still there.

When i see the thousands of components available for Delphi, i can't
imagine that this will happen for Delphi or Firebird.
I am using too some 3rd party components (open source and commercial -
Jedi VCL and TMS)
TMS has a lot of activity around their components, so i think that they
have enough reasons in terms of business to do so.

Seeing the history of Delphi, going from Borland to Inprise, back to
Borland and now Codegear, there was for sure some confusing activity.
When i see that there is Delphi 2007 for Win32, a real machine code
generating development tool during those times of .NET
(needs some framework to run; remembers that P-code generators like VB
and Powerbuilder, needing some Run-time), i hope that Delphi AND
Firebird will last for
some more years.

Right now, i am even searching for opportunities to do some Delphi
programming in a homework job.

Thanks,

Jean.
