I installed Firebird Alpha 2.5 on Redhat Linux (RHEL 5.2) and am able
to access databases locally using isql, but cannot get at them
remotely. For example, can't even do: telnet localhost 3050. That may
indicate a Redhat problem but the firewall is disabled and their tech
support couldn't find any reason in the OS logs I sent them.
No matter that, I can't find any specific instructions for installing
Alpha 2.5 SuperClassic Server on Linux 64. There is some vague
reference to not needing xinetd but almost nothing else. It is also
unclear how to install or run SuperClassic versus Plain Classic Server.
If I do a ps command, I don't see any firebird process whatsoever.
In short, Help! I'm drowning in google.
