Can you TELNET to port 3050?

From a windows command-prompt telnet to a non-serviced port will give
you an error like "connection failed". Telnet to 3050 blanks my
command-window, meaning there is something there.

If Telnet also fails there might be something blocking outgoing traffic
to port 3050.

What happens if you make the firebird-server listen on a port below 1024
instead of 3050?
