and at firebird-php@yahoogroups.com (the same kind of groups as firebird-support) there are some firebird 2.1 scripts of how to do the nbackup in different levels, automatically/regularly. Then send them as e-mail attachment or directly by ftp to the targets. So you can have your database (and its remote branches) working around-clock, around-global.

ALL OF THE ABOVE ARE COMPILED. TESTED AND WORKING DIRECTLY ON LINUX. (RHEL, CentOs, Fedora4++...)
