I have recently installed Firebird 2.0.1 on Slackware Linux (12.0). I
have no problems working with FB from the ISQL command line, but I I
would like to have a GUI tool to make life more pleasant. I have tried
several.
I have been unable to get FlameRobin to run at all and gave up after
several tries.
IBAccess runs and performs some tasks, but randomly(?) gives messages
about "access violations". I am able to create Tables, Generators and
Triggers, but when I try to enter data into a table (Start New
Transaction -> enter the data -> Commit Transaction) there are no
indications of any error, but nothing is committed to the database. It
has also on several occasions caused my desktop to freeze requiring me
to restart X-windows.
ibWebAdmin runs and will allow me to create a database or login to an
existing database, but it will not permit me to create tables.
I like Firebird for its compactness and feature set, but I am about to
the point of rethinking my decision about what DB to use. If anyone
can offer any words of wisdom I will be very appreciative.
