I don't know. On the one hand, the bug is in platform-independent
code. On the other hand, the bug should not affect even Windows - I
failed to find conditions under which it appears.

No, the cause is unknown. The change in code which cause the bug is
known, but this is a right change (sounds paradoxically?).
