We have a 4 way CPU server with 8 GB of RAM as well running Classic.
The only advice I have is to us the HugeMem kernel (well at least use it
if you are running CentOS which you are not) and to make sure to set the
xinetd configurations to allow unlimited connections and not to throttle
the connections.
