The database MUST reside on the SAME machine the engine is running on.

If Firebird is running on machine A and the database is resides on machine
A, you could run the GBak process on machine B, attaching to the database on
machine A through the engine on machine A with the output .fbk file going to
machine B or even machine C if you want.
