Various discussions have taken place in the forum about switching from IBX
before firebird 2.
I' m pretty sure I have seen this mentioned in the forum.

> Firebird v1.5 introduced a new FBClient.DLL but this could be renamed as
gds32.dll and work with IBX without any problems (AFAIR). v2.0
maintains this.

I thought that it wasn't just a matter of renaming it. It is also version
stamped to change the reported
version from 1.5.2.4731 to 6.3.2.4731 in the case of version 1.5.2
because the IBX interface
does version checking and tries to ensure it is talking to Interbase 6 or
later.

Interestingly enough the embedded version doesn't seem to require version
stamping, as far
as my testing indicates.

Further, the client API has not been changed in v2.0.
