Yes, I know and love linux, but it concept is diferent...
This is not a programed task or squeduler...
A Background Process is a Stored Procedure (in SQL language). The DBMS
return control to client (win-lnx, php-C-Delphi-etc.) when it is fired....
and continue executing in background...
The clients close (or not) your connection while Stored Procedure run in
server.
