OK, I have now discovered that the 'unavailable database' occurs only
when I use the built-in Microsoft remote desktop connection.
(The port problem with 3050 was affecting the ODBC access, and that
cleared up with the firewall straightened out.)
Anybody know why Firebird won't work with remote desktop?
