Whatever the file and operating systems permit. With NTFS, it's
64-bit file I/O, but apparently it's really 48-bit I/O, basically a
few terabytes. With FAT32 on Win2000 and WinXP(I don't know about
Win95 and Win98), it's supposed to be 4GB. On Linux, 32-bit file I/O
it's 2GB and 64-bit file I/O, a few terabytes. With a Windows NTFS
and Linux 64-bit file I/O, you might have a greater chance to max out
the volume space than the file system limit. But, even with the
32-bit file I/O, you can have multi-file databases, which will give a
larger database than 2 or 4 GB.
