Hello all,
after a while searching for info not finding the desired answers I
decided to post my question here.
First of all I have to say I'm not pretty firm with linux and new to
installations from source, but I would like to do something like this:
I would like to create a binary package of firebird superserver that,
unpacked from a tar.gz, etc would work on at least suses and redhats
without going through installation procedures like autogen, mak & make
install. If you'd like to see a working tar.gz of what I'm talking
about, look at http://www.apachefriends.org , which is actually the
package (LAMPP) that inspired my thoughts. As far as I understand the
option --enable-static does a part or maybe all of the job, but to
tell you the truth, I don't know if it would do it with firebird.
Furthermore I need to put all binaries, libs, etc into one directory
tree.
Well does anybody know if this works with firebird, if yes how? or
does anybody have a link to a document eplaining how?
What I also would like to find is a more detailed explanation of all
the options that can be used with autogen.sh / configure for the
firebird build.
Right now I'm working with SUSE 9.1 on an Intel box.
Thanks in advance
Best regards
gaucho
