I'd have to ask "What software"?
Does the software crash, or Firebird?
Which version of Firebird and what client software?
I thought that Firebird was pretty stable now, and I don't have any
problem with the server - which is on one machine - but I do with
Builder5 and the application - on another machine - from time to time :)

It depends on what the application is doing. Mine run 24/7 without a
single problem, and SINCE I dumped BDE I have not had to do a single
restore, but if the application is doing something stupid ...
So what we should probably be dealing with is the reason rather than
trying to find the wrong solution. In any case, there is no way I'd put
any of the application onto a main server until it was stable, so the
database file should be local to the server until the problems are solved!
