How i can determine/config the maximum useable count of DbCache pages?

On a Win2k with 512MB, i set this value 16364, and the fdb size is 16K the = 256Mb ram to page buffer

The firebird use ~300mb ram (task manager info). But the performance is terrible... though there is 100MB free memory (task manager
info) No any other extra process ran on the machine.
I think, the win swapping this memory to pagefile. (i set the performance to background services (my computer/properties/...), but
this not solved the problem)

If i set back 16384 -> 10000 pages, then the performance was restored.

Is there any parameter to set, that NO SWAP memory or any other logical setting to use large db cache? Or there is any limit to
cache page size, which is independent to pc's ram configuration?
