Hi,

Another newbie question. What is the size limit of user name and password
for FB? I remember that I read from this maillist some time ago the
effective length of password is 8 characters even though you may offer
longer string. From security.fdb I found PASSWD field is varchar(32). Could
somebody tell me why password is limited to 8?

I could not find any limitation from IB documentation but from security.fdb
I know USER_NAME field is varchar(128). Does that mean we can use such a
long name for UserName? Or like password, there is an effective limit less
than the field size?
