I have firebird15 installed on Mandrake 9.1 and running nicely it seems.
This installation comes on top of another program, Quasar (a book
keeping package), which has its own modified firebird.

Not surprisingly perhaps, there is some overlap & conflict between the
two. Firebird15 (the latter installation) works fine but when I run
Quasar and attempt to access its database (which can only be done via
its own modified firebird), it cannot open the database.

So I want to try shutting down the server belonging *only* to firebird15
but do not know how to do this. Then I can see if this will enable me to
avoid the current confusion between the firebird versions.

If someone can explain to me how to shutdown (and restart) only the
firebase15 server, from the command line, that would be much
appreciated. I saw a message in the archives suggesting to shutdown
xinetd to shutdown firebird, but I imagine this might shutdown not just
firebird15.
