I don't have a solution. But let me say something is has happening to me.

I had an application which was running in many locations (up to 20 to 30 places) on Win 2000 servers without a problem. One customer installed it on Red Hat 7.0. That was also fine.

I then converted some functionality to do multi threaded access. Lot of information being retrieved from blobs in the database and being written to files on the client. Windows 2000 continues to work fine and performance is improved (working satisfactorily - at least 3 to 6 months). Linux once a week or once in 10 days, the client when doing multithread access gets 10054 error and loses the connection.

Upgraded him to Red Hat 8.0 did not help.

remote isql (the one that works on the server side) did always work.

At times I experience connection problems when using the database
from client tools/components like WISQL or TIBObjects.

The connection is suddenly lost, while remote isql tasks (if any)
keep on working.

This problem arises when multiple users are connected to the
database. For months the server worked flawlessly where usually 1 and
seldom 2 users would be connected to the server.
