First I checked for the Guardian tray icon. Next I looked in Control
Panel, Serives. It showed that the server hadn't been started. I tried
to start it, but it failed to load.

I ran the RC4 Win32.exe version of the install and installed Firebird
as a service. I don't believe that I had a choice of Superserver or
Classic?? What else could be wrong?
