but that's what triggers are supposed to do..
what do they do that you don't want them to do?

Basically, there are many triggers which actually perform business logic on
insert of a record... We are in the process of moving them to stored
procedures, but at the moment, pumping data into our database will alter the
data on the way in.

Not good, I know....
