Subject INET problems
Author Marcus
All,
I posted a question about this earlier in the week, but did not get a
reply. So I thought I would try again, as the situation is becoming more
pressing.

I am using RedHat 7.0 and FB 1.02.

I have followed several notes on how to get Interbase (I know I said I was
using FB but I could find anything related) up and running, such as
previous version of libcursers, setup the appropriate entries in
hosts.equiv but I still have the problem. When the server starts the
interbase.log reports:
{server name} (Client) Wed Feb 5 22:48:42 2003
INET/inet_error: connect errno = 111
{server name} (Client) Wed Feb 5 22:48:42 2003
/opt/interbase/bin/ibguard: guardian starting bin/ibserver

{server name} (Client) Wed Feb 5 22:48:57 2003
INET/inet_error: read errno = 104
{server name} (Client) Wed Feb 5 22:48:57 2003
INET/inet_error: receive in try_connect errno = 104
{server name} (Client) Wed Feb 5 22:48:57 2003
/opt/interbase/bin/ibguard: bin/ibserver normal shutdown.
NOTE : The server name has been removed from this email and replaced with
{server name}.

errno 111 is "Connection Refused" and errno 104 is "Connection reset by
peer", both messages are not that helpful. First what connection would be
refused and why would it be refused? Secondly, what peer is resetting the
connection? I can ping localhost and 127.0.0.1.

Any help in this matter would be really appreciated.

Regards,
Marcus.
