If you set the registry key correctly (using 'instreg.exe install')
from the zip kit, you won't have to copy fbclient.dll to the system
dir too. That is not recommended (to copy fbclient.dll there).

The zip kit has two small batch files install_super.bat and
install_classic.bat. You should not ignore the steps done by these
batches, except 'instsvc.exe' if you're on Win9x (which does not have
NT-kind services).
