My knowledge of databases is minimal. At the moment the company I am
working for is developing an application with BDE running in the back.
But due to speed , support and future development we have decided to
move to Firebird. Now our program comes on CD so we have to distribute
one database system with every CD. As I read from the Firebird license
this is no problem as it runs on the MPL.
No.1 Are there any freeware / MPL components availible for firebird ?
No.2 How do I distribute firebird with my application ?
No.3 What happens if the use already has firebird installed on his
machine ? Can 2 Firebird servers run at the same time ?
Somebody suggested on another forum that I should ask if there is an
embedded version of the SQL server ? Now not being 100% clear on what
an embedded version is , I am assumin it would be firebird compiled
into my application ?.! I am using Delphi V.7 Can somebody suggest
anything.
