This is a bug that has been carried over from the initial fork of the
IB code.
Anytime there is already a user in the db the next connection will be
a little slower.
If you are do a 3 tier system you can use a connection pooling
component. IB express 6.03 or 5.03 has one.

I was at borcon and the slow connections are a known bug and they
have fixed it for IB 7.0.

Hopefully we can have it fixed before they do........
