Yep - and include the GBK in the backup (after it has finished, of course).

A database file needs to be in shared access files. Your sysadmin
shouldn't be backing up/copying/zipping shared access files
willy-nilly. His robot probably has system privileges, which means it can
do what it jolly-well likes, even to getting access to the file when the
ibserver process has exclusive access (which it does, if it is Firebird,
and doesn't if it is IB.)

If they can't exclude your shared access files from their backup, tell them
to get everyone off and shut down the server before they start.
