we've tried both of them

first of all IB6 Open Source then the registered version of IB
Finally we moved to FB

with all of them we got the same performance

Are you using a loopback connection method/string (i.e.
"localhost:drive:\path\database.gdb")???

You need to.

The normal direct connection method ( "drive:\path\database.gdb") is a
blocking connection, only 1 operation performs at a time.
